2018 ASCO Annual Meeting Opens in Chicago
The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) hosts the 2018 Annual Meeting in theMcCormick Place Convention Centre in Chicago, IL, on June 1-5.

The meeting attracts more than 39,000 attendees, including over 32,000 oncology professionals, from around the world to discuss the latest advances in oncology and together to create innovative solution for cancer patients.
This year, the focus of the meeting is precision medicine. Setting the 2018 Meeting apart from the previous gathering, Dr. Bruce E. Johnson, MD, President of the 2017-2018 ASCO, defines the main theme as “Delivering Discoveries: Expanding the Reach of Precision Medicine” to address a need of making precision medicine accessible to all cancer patients.
Dr. Johnson remarked, “Precision medicine is transforming cancer care in profound ways and is a focus of this year’s meeting. I firmly believe that the number of patients who benefit from precision medicine will continue to increase as treatments become more effective.”
More than 6,450 research abstracts and 2,515 oral abstracts will be presented through out this five-day meeting. Abstracts selected by the Scientific Program Committee as having practice-changing discoveries will be presented in the Plenary Session. Aside from the Plenary Session, there will be other sessions, including Education Sessions, Clinical Problems in Oncology Sessions, Oral Abstract Sessions, Poster Sessions, respectively covering different topics. The ASCO also offers various of workshops and business connection for professionals to interact and generate more opportunities from bench to bed.
