Aker BP Maintains 31.5633 Percent Stake in Johan Sverdrup Field Following Redetermination
Aker BP has increased its ownership interest in the Johan Sverdrup field following a formal redetermination process. The company now holds a 31.5633 percent stake in the field, up from its previous interest of 31.5633 percent, effective June 1, 2026.
The redetermination process adjusts the equity interests of the various partners involved in the Johan Sverdrup license to reflect updated geological data and production performance. This adjustment ensures that each partner’s share of the field’s output aligns with their respective contributions and the actual distribution of petroleum resources across the license area. Aker BP confirmed that the updated ownership percentages will apply to all future production and operational costs associated with the field. The Johan Sverdrup field, located in the North Sea, remains one of the largest oil-producing assets on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
