Amlodipine, a Common Blood Pressure Medication, Shows Promise in Treating ADHD
In a groundbreaking study, researchers have discovered that amlodipine, a medication commonly used to treat high blood pressure, may also effectively manage symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The study involved testing five potential drugs on rats specifically bred to exhibit ADHD-like behaviors. Among the tested medications, only amlodipine demonstrated a significant reduction in hyperactivity.
This promising finding opens up new avenues for the treatment of ADHD, offering hope for an alternative therapy using a well-established drug. Further research is anticipated to explore the effectiveness and safety of amlodipine in human subjects with ADHD.
