Anixa Biosciences Receives Notice of Allowance in Canada for Ovarian Cancer Vaccine Targeting CTAG1B Protein

Anixa Biosciences has received a Notice of Allowance from the Canadian Intellectual Property Office for its patent application concerning the company’s ovarian cancer vaccine technology. This allowance strengthens the international patent protection for Anixa’s vaccine, which targets the CTAG1B protein, also known as NY-ESO-1.

The allowed claims specifically cover a vaccine composition that includes a T-cell stimulating antigen derived from the CTAG1B protein. This protein is expressed in a variety of cancers, including ovarian cancer, but is not typically found in healthy adult tissues. Anixa Biosciences believes that a vaccine targeting CTAG1B has the potential to stimulate an immune response that can destroy cancer cells expressing this protein, offering a new approach to treating ovarian cancer.
