Arvinas Joins Michael J. Fox Foundation LRRK2 Consortium to Advance Protein Degrader Research
Arvinas, a clinical-stage biotechnology company, has joined The Michael J. Fox Foundation’s LRRK2 Cohort Consortium (LITE) and the Parkinson’s Progression Markers Initiative (PPMI) to support the development of therapies targeting the LRRK2 protein in Parkinson’s disease patients. This collaboration integrates Arvinas’ proprietary protein degradation platform with the foundation’s clinical research infrastructure to better understand the role of LRRK2 mutations in the progression of the disease.
The partnership provides Arvinas with access to extensive clinical data, biological samples, and longitudinal research gathered through the PPMI and LITE programs. By utilizing these resources, the company aims to refine its research into PROTAC protein degraders, which are designed to remove disease-causing proteins from the body. The LITE program specifically focuses on identifying biomarkers and clinical characteristics in individuals with LRRK2 mutations, while the PPMI study tracks the progression of Parkinson’s disease through comprehensive data collection. Arvinas intends to use these insights to inform the development of potential treatments that address the underlying biological mechanisms associated with LRRK2-linked Parkinson’s.
