The American Society of Hematology (ASH), in collaboration with the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH), has introduced a new set of clinical practice guidelines addressing anticoagulant prophylaxis for pediatric patients at risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE). These recommendations, which focus on non-cardiac pediatric populations, aim to provide evidence-based guidance for healthcare providers managing children vulnerable to blood clots. The guidelines were published in the medical journal *Blood Advances*.

The newly released guidelines represent a significant effort to standardize care for children at risk of VTE, a condition that can lead to serious complications if untreated. They outline specific scenarios where anticoagulant prophylaxis may be appropriate, taking into account factors such as age, underlying health conditions, and the presence of additional risk factors. Developed through an extensive review process involving experts in hematology and thrombosis, the recommendations are intended to support clinicians in making informed decisions while balancing the benefits and risks of anticoagulation therapy in young patients.
