AVITA Medical has entered into a 10-year agreement with the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), valued at up to $25.5 million. The collaboration aims to enhance the United States’ preparedness for burn-related emergencies by supporting the procurement of AVITA’s RECELL® Systems, a medical device used in treating severe burns.

Under the terms of the agreement, BARDA will provide funding for the purchase of RECELL® Systems over the next decade. This partnership builds on an existing relationship between AVITA Medical and BARDA, which has previously supported clinical trials and product development for burn care solutions. The new contract is designed to ensure that sufficient supplies of RECELL® are available for use in mass casualty events involving burn injuries.
