Johns Hopkins Medicine researchers found that combining cannabis edibles and alcohol leads to greater driving impairment than using either substance individually. The study also indicated that standard field sobriety tests did not accurately detect impairment caused by cannabis, whether used alone or with alcohol.

The research provides further evidence of the combined effects of cannabis and alcohol on driving abilities. Participants who consumed both substances exhibited more significant impairment compared to those who consumed only one. However, the researchers noted that standard field sobriety tests, which law enforcement often uses to assess impairment, failed to identify those under the influence of cannabis, regardless of whether they had also consumed alcohol.
