Cash App and Afterpay Enable Buy Now Pay Later Financing for All Visa Transactions

Cash App and Afterpay now allow users to utilize “buy now, pay later” (BNPL) financing for any purchase where Visa is accepted. This integration enables customers to split payments into installments at any merchant that processes Visa transactions, expanding the reach of BNPL services beyond specific retail partnerships.

The new functionality functions through the Cash App and Afterpay platforms, which generate a temporary Visa card for the user to complete a transaction. Once the user initiates a purchase, the system divides the total cost into a series of payments. This update removes the requirement for merchants to have a direct integration with BNPL providers, as the payment processing occurs through the existing Visa network. Users manage their installment schedules and payment tracking directly within their respective Cash App or Afterpay mobile applications.
