**Clinical Trial Identifies Nutritional Formula That Reduces Gut Microbial Overgrowth**

Researchers at Cedars-Sinai have developed a nutritional formula, mBiota Elemental, designed to address gut microbial overgrowth conditions. The formula, described as a palatable elemental diet (PED), was shown in clinical trials to reduce the presence of specific gut microbiome taxa and alleviate symptoms in patients diagnosed with small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) and intestinal methanogen overgrowth (IMO).

The findings highlight the potential of mBiota Elemental in managing these gastrointestinal disorders, which are characterized by an imbalance or excessive growth of microorganisms in the digestive tract. The study demonstrated that the formula effectively decreased microbial abundance while improving patient-reported symptoms associated with SIBO and IMO. Researchers emphasized its palatability as a key feature, addressing common challenges with adherence to elemental diets due to taste preferences. Further details on the trial methodology and outcomes were not disclosed in the report.
