Eli Lilly and Ascidian Therapeutics Form $1.9 Billion RNA Kidney Disease Research Partnership

Eli Lilly and Ascidian Therapeutics have entered into a research collaboration focused on developing RNA exon editing therapies for genetically driven kidney diseases. The agreement grants Lilly access to Ascidian’s proprietary technology platform and carries a total potential value of $1.9 billion.

Under the terms of the partnership, Ascidian will utilize its exon editing capabilities to identify and develop potential drug candidates targeting specific genetic conditions affecting the kidneys. The deal structure includes upfront payments, development and commercial milestone payments, and tiered royalties on future sales. Both companies will work to advance these programs through the preclinical stage, with Lilly assuming responsibility for subsequent development and commercialization efforts.
