GovScape Launches Search Interface for 16 Years of U.S. Government Web Archives

A new digital tool called GovScape now provides a search interface for the End of Term Web Archive (EOTWA), a repository containing millions of United States government documents collected between 2008 and 2024. The platform allows users to navigate and analyze the archive, which preserves federal digital records spanning from the second term of the George W. Bush administration through 2024.

The EOTWA project functions as a comprehensive digital library, capturing snapshots of government websites during presidential transitions to ensure the long-term availability of public information. GovScape organizes these archived materials into a searchable format, addressing the technical difficulties researchers often face when navigating large-scale web archives. By indexing these records, the tool enables users to locate specific documents within the collection that tracks the evolution of federal digital content over the past 16 years.
