A new study of Hinge Health’s digital musculoskeletal (MSK) program reports a 3.0x return on investment (ROI) for employers, based on an analysis of medical claims data. The research, which the company describes as the largest of its kind, tracked healthcare spending and clinical outcomes for participants enrolled in the program compared to a control group.

The study analyzed medical claims data to measure the financial impact of the digital physical therapy platform over a set period. Researchers compared the total healthcare costs of employees who utilized Hinge Health’s services against those who did not. According to the findings, the program reduced medical spending by lowering the need for surgeries, emergency room visits, and other high-cost interventions associated with musculoskeletal conditions. The data indicates that for every dollar spent on the program, employers saved three dollars in medical costs. The study focused on the efficacy of remote exercise therapy and behavioral health coaching in managing chronic pain and injury recovery.
