The U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) has awarded KBR Mission Technology Solutions an $8 billion contract to provide science and engineering support for the United States Antarctic Program. The agreement tasks the company with managing logistics, infrastructure, and research operations across the NSF’s three research stations in Antarctica and various field camps over the coming years.

Under the terms of the contract, KBR will oversee the maintenance of facilities, provide transportation and supply chain management, and support scientific research initiatives conducted on the continent. The company assumes responsibility for the operation of McMurdo Station, Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station, and Palmer Station. This work includes managing information technology systems, engineering services, and construction projects necessary to sustain year-round research activities in the region. The NSF selected KBR to facilitate these operations as part of its ongoing commitment to maintaining a U.S. presence in Antarctica for climate, geological, and astronomical study.
