The research team utilized data from a patient registry to observe these renal symptoms, which were previously unrecognized as primary features of the disorder. By conducting protein analysis and examining mouse models, the investigators determined that the absence of the LRBA protein disrupts the kidneys’ ability to regulate water retention.
