Microsoft recently identified and blocked a phishing campaign that utilized AI-generated code to deceive email recipients. The attackers reportedly disguised an SVG file as a PDF document in an attempt to trick users into opening the malicious attachment.

According to the company, the phishing scheme involved leveraging artificial intelligence to create sophisticated code designed to bypass detection mechanisms. The attackers embedded the AI-generated code within an SVG file, which was then presented as a legitimate PDF document in phishing emails. This tactic aimed to exploit user trust and encourage recipients to interact with the fraudulent file. Microsoft has not disclosed how many users were targeted or affected by this campaign but confirmed that its security systems successfully intercepted and neutralized the threat.

The incident highlights ongoing efforts by cybercriminals to incorporate advanced technologies like AI into their operations, making phishing attempts increasingly difficult to detect. Microsoft stated it remains committed to enhancing its security measures against such evolving threats.
