New Study Explores Impact of Lifestyle, Diet, and Community on Aging
A groundbreaking study is set to examine how lifestyle choices, dietary habits, and social connections influence the aging process. Known as the Arlington Study of Healthy Aging (ASHA), this research initiative aims to uncover key factors that contribute to healthier aging.
The ASHA study will recruit 600 volunteers between the ages of 50 and 80. Participants will undergo comprehensive evaluations, including full-body imaging scans, cognitive testing to assess mental function, and vascular health assessments to measure cardiovascular well-being. These tests are designed to provide a holistic view of how various aspects of life impact physical and mental health as individuals age.
Researchers hope the findings will shed light on actionable strategies for promoting longevity and improving quality of life in older adults. By analyzing data from diverse participants across multiple domains—physical health, cognitive ability, and social engagement—the study seeks to identify patterns that could inform public health recommendations.
