NICE Recommends New Endometriosis Treatment for NHS Patients
The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has endorsed a new oral treatment option for endometriosis, which could benefit approximately 1,000 eligible patients annually within the National Health Service (NHS). The recommendation introduces a combination therapy pill aimed at addressing symptoms associated with the condition.
Endometriosis affects millions of women worldwide, often causing chronic pain and other debilitating symptoms. NICE’s approval of this treatment marks an addition to the available options for managing the condition. The therapy combines relugolix with estradiol and norethisterone acetate, offering an alternative to existing treatments such as surgery or hormonal therapies. According to reports, this pill may provide relief by targeting hormone levels that contribute to endometrial tissue growth outside the uterus.
