November 24, 1859: Darwin Published On the Origin of Species Proposing the Theory of Evolution
November 24, 1859, English biologist Charles Darwin published the scientific masterpiece, On the Origin of Species, after two decades of effort developing the theory of evolution. Darwin’s theory of evolution by natural selection became the foundation of modern evolutionary studies, and greatly influenced the study in genetics.
