Only 6.9% of Patients With Drug-Resistant Infections Receive Correct Antibiotics in Select Low- and Middle-Income Countries

A recent analysis reveals that a small percentage of individuals with drug-resistant infections received appropriate antibiotic treatment in several low- and middle-income countries. The study found that only 6.9% of those with drug-resistant infections were prescribed the correct antibiotic over a one-year period. Researchers examined data from eight large, low- and middle-income countries to reach this conclusion. The findings highlight a disparity in access to effective treatments for these types of infections within the studied regions.
