Perimeter Medical Imaging AI Receives INOVAIT Funding for Breast Cancer Surgical Tool Development

Perimeter Medical Imaging AI has secured funding from the INOVAIT Pilot Fund to support the development of artificial intelligence technology designed to assist surgeons during breast cancer procedures. This initiative aims to integrate advanced imaging tools into the operating room to improve the precision of tissue assessment during lumpectomies.

The project focuses on enhancing Perimeter’s existing medical imaging platform by incorporating AI-driven software that provides real-time feedback to surgical teams. By utilizing this technology, surgeons aim to identify cancerous tissue more effectively while the patient remains in the operating room, potentially reducing the need for follow-up surgeries. The INOVAIT program, which is supported by the Government of Canada’s Strategic Innovation Fund, provides financial backing to Canadian companies working on image-guided therapy innovations. Perimeter will utilize these resources to accelerate the clinical development and testing phases of its AI-enhanced imaging tools.
