SFPUC Extends Jacobs Contract for Sewer System Improvement Program Management

The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) has extended its contract with the engineering firm Jacobs to provide ongoing program management and technical support for the city’s Sewer System Improvement Program (SSIP). This multibillion-dollar infrastructure initiative aims to upgrade San Francisco’s aging wastewater and stormwater systems to improve seismic resilience, environmental protection, and long-term operational reliability.

Jacobs will continue to oversee project delivery, engineering design, and construction management as the city advances the next phase of the program. The SSIP encompasses a series of capital projects designed to modernize treatment facilities, pump stations, and collection systems across the city. By extending this partnership, the SFPUC maintains continuity in its efforts to address climate-related challenges, such as sea-level rise and increased storm intensity, while ensuring the city’s utility infrastructure meets current regulatory and safety standards.
