Texas Tech Veterinary Students Publish Independent Research on Equine Genomics and Veterinary Science

Two fourth-year students from the Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine, Kayden Tanner and Marshall Mays, recently published their independent research findings in international scientific journals. The students completed the work after dedicating hundreds of hours to experimental procedures and the development of their respective manuscripts.

Tanner authored the paper titled “Genomics in Equine MEED: Whole-Genome Sequencing and Target Mutation Identification,” which appeared as a feature article in a peer-reviewed publication. The research focuses on identifying specific genetic mutations related to equine health. Meanwhile, Mays contributed his own research findings to the international veterinary community through a separate publication. Both students conducted their studies as part of their advanced training within the university’s veterinary program.
