A recent randomized clinical trial conducted at UCLA Health examined the potential benefits of artificial intelligence (AI) tools designed to automate documentation during patient visits. The study found that these AI-powered “scribes” could significantly reduce the time physicians spend on paperwork, potentially improving their overall work experience.

The trial focused on evaluating how effectively AI systems could handle documentation tasks typically performed by physicians. Researchers observed a decrease in the administrative burden for doctors who used the technology, allowing them to dedicate more time to patient care and other responsibilities. The findings suggest that integrating such tools into healthcare settings may alleviate some of the challenges associated with physician workload and well-being.
