The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) and UT Health San Antonio have received more than $2.7 million in new grant funding from the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT). This financial support assists the recently integrated institutions in conducting cancer research and implementing prevention initiatives throughout South Texas.

The grants provide resources for the combined university system to address complex challenges in oncology. These funds specifically target the development of new research projects and the expansion of existing prevention programs within the region. The integration of the two institutions allows for a collaborative approach to utilizing these resources, focusing on the scientific and clinical efforts required to advance cancer-related initiatives in the local community.
