One of the most influential English language journals in genetics, Journal of Genetics, was founded in England by W. Bateson and R. C. Punnett in 1910, and later edited by J. B. S. Haldane. When Haldane emigrated to India in 1957, he brought the journal and edited the journal from India until his death in 1964, and Haldane’s wife, Helen Spurway, carried on with the journal through Indian publishers. Afterward the journal was stopped to be published for several years upon Helen Spurway’s death in 1977. In 1985, the Indian Academy of Sciences, Bengaluru, resumed publishing the journal with the permission of Lady Naomi Mitchison, Haldane’s sister until now. Nowadays every issue from 1910 to 1994 of the journal is available online for free download.
