November 10, 1940: Australian Geneticist Richard Cotton was Born
Richard Cotton (November 10, 1940 – June 20, 2015) was an Australian geneticist. During his postdoctoral research, Cotton developed the crucial techniques of producing monoclonal antibodies. His diagnostic techniques and research into genetic diseases such as Phenylketonuria have been fundamental to the early detection of affected individuals. The effort Cotton put into studying congenital diseases grestly contributed to the understanding and diagnostic methods of genetic diseases.
