April 17, 2013: Sequence of the Zebrafish Genome Published on Nature
Zebrafish is one important model organism for studying developmental biology and human diseases. On April 17, 2013, the genome sequence of zebrafish was completed and published on the Nature journal. Up till the publication of this result. its genome was the largest gene set in vertebrates that has been sequenced so far. and merely contains any pseudogenes. The analysis shown that there are more than 26,000 genes, and over 70% of the genes are in correspondence with human genes.
