Covid-19 continues to disrupt health services across the UK, and the effects of Long COVID are fast becoming apparent, research suggests around one in five people who test positive for Covid-19 have symptoms for five weeks or longer. For around one in ten people, they last 12 weeks or longer.

The BMA has recently warned that some practices are facing the ‘impossible choice’ of reducing services or letting staff go due to lack of financial support, however, in response the Department of Health & Social Care has announced an additional £150 million in funding which is available for practices to the end of March 2021

For all the pain, uncertainty, and worry that the pandemic has spread, it has also shown us the importance and needs for digital technology and innovation, we must now keep our foot on the pedal of innovation and not lose momentum to ensure the safety and wellbeing of both primary care staff and its patients its maximised.

Our 7th Digital Primary Care: Riding the Innovation Wave conference will provide a timely platform for GP’s, CCG’s and PCN’s to explore recent changes in national policy and best practices surrounding the use of digital technology and innovative emerging solutions.

Digital First Primary Care funding is being made available to NHS England regional teams. This will be used to support health systems with implementation and uptake activity in relation to online consultation and other digital GP contract commitments, our conference aims to provide insights on subject areas including:

• Using online consultations: Best practice and key challenges
• Long Covid: Research, challenges and technology-based support
• (GPAD) general practice appointment data: Improving Data Quality and uses
• Redesigning primary care at scale and collaborative working
