South Korea’s remarkable industrial and economic growth in the last century has pushed it into one of the top-ranking positions in the world. Electronics manufacturing and steel production spearheaded the country’s rise to prosperity, and in recent years, its emerging biotechnology industry is proving to be another huge step in the country’s evolution. Companies like Samsung, Celltrion, and SK Bioscience have made Korea one of the leading countries in Asia in the biotech industry. 
At BIOPLUS-INTERPHEX (BIX) Korea 2022 in Seoul, an annual conference bringing together biotech industry professionals from around the world, Vice President of KoreaBIO, Seung Kyou Lee, sat down and highlighted Korean biotech’s most promising and exciting trends. Lee covered everything from connecting in person again, the current and hopeful future state of the Korean biotech industry, and what it might take for Korea to take a more prominent position on the global stage.123
