Walmart To Settle Opioid Lawsuits with $3.1 Billion, U.S. Government Mulls OTC Naloxone
In an effort to close the door on its thousands of opioid lawsuits, Walmart announced a sweeping nationwide settlement framework, agreeing to pay $3.1 billion to resolve all lawsuits by state, local, and tribal governments. The retail behemoth said the payments would significantly aid the fight against opioids. On the same day, the FDA and the Department of Health and Human Resources (HHS) published a proposal to transition naloxone, a treatment used to reverse the effects of opioid overdose, to over-the-counter medication.
