December 5, 2012: Scientists Discovered Over 3,000 Epigenetic Switches Control Daily Liver Cycles

On December 5, 2012, scientists at the Salk Institute published a study in Cell Metabolism journal revealing more than 3,000 epigenomic elements which regulate the circadian cycles. The finding indicated the correlation between liver and sleeping behavior. The researchers also noted that abnormal lifestyle and circadian cycle may falsely activate regulatory genes which can lead to health-threatening conditions such as high blood sugar and high cholesterol.
